Skiing

Instead of presents under the tree Santa delivered 15cm of powder. We weren't opening gifts until the 26th anyways so Trudi and I went up skiing at 9am.

Here is two shots of mom blasting down main run.

It snowed another 30cm overnight so I went up today and skied for half the day because my legs couldn't take any more and if I kept on trying I would have hit a tree hard.

The best ski moment so far was cutting down a run around 11am and finding that no one else had been down there. It was steep and deep. I had a field the size of a football field to myself. After skiing down that I cut through the trees at the bottom and launched off a 20ft cliff with a nice powdery landing. Usually I would have stopped to catch my breath but the adrenaline was pumping so much that I was able to just keep on skiing as if nothing had happened. It was a memorable run!

Hope everyone is having a good Xmas!

Rossland - Day 1

I doubt I'll be doing something every day, but I have time on my hands and today rocked!!

Thursday night I took the ferry over to Jan's place, where Dean was also staying. We sat up until 1am drinking and chatting, Grandville Island winter ale ROCKS! But only in small quantities, it's so tasty!

The day started at 5am with a 7hr drive, or 6hrs 57min drive to be exact, from Jan's place to Rossland. Finding a gas station that is open at 6am sucks, but in Bridal Falls there is an Esso that's open that early! Driving up the Hope-Princeton in the dark is no fun, but at least there wasn't any traffic. Sunrise found me flying along the flats just past Princeton.

The roads were pretty good but the weather was variable, from cloudy

to sunny

Stopping after Nancy Greene Lake for a leak on the side of the road. What a good car!

The last 20 minutes were the worst road conditions,

but I was also driving the fastest due to the fact that I been informed that it was a free ski day at the hill...SCORE Ah, the hill!

So I quickly donned on my ski gear and headed for the lift! Up at the top it was a nice sunny day.
